New to Zion Lutheran Church? Or has it been a while since you have visited us from up North? We want to make you feel as comfortable as possible while you are here. So here is some information to help you get started. Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.
Our promise is that we will accept you wherever you are in your faith walk. In following God’s plan for us as Christians, we will encourage you to grow in your faith through regular worship, study of God’s Word, stewardship, serving others and spreading the Word.
The music, the sermons, God’s Word and our devoted and friendly members are eager to welcome you and to get to know you. We offer several worship times on Sundays to accommodate you and your family’s needs. Our 9:30 am, or second service, is specifically designed for families. We are excited to have you worship with us!
8:00 am and 11:00 am Services offer liturgical services that come from our historic past and use scripture, responsive readings, prayers, and music to form a worship service that has order, structure, and scriptural significance. Communion is offered at these services on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays. The whole entire service is on screens in the front of the church for everyone to follow along.
9:30 am Service has a similar liturgical setting but uses more current contemporary music within the structure of the service. Communion is offered at this service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. The whole service is on screens in the front of the church to make it easy for everyone to follow along.
We believe that the bread and wine used in communion is the true body and blood of Jesus Christ given for us for the forgiveness of our sins. We believe that we as sinners cannot save ourselves and it is only through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that we are saved. If you believe this as well, you are invited to join us for communion at our church services.
Many of our members who attend church here choose to dress up, but many others come in casual clothes. We don’t care how you dress as long as it is respectful and not distracting to others.
You are welcome to park in any of the parking spaces on our property as well as on the grass areas. When you arrive you will see people parked in the grass area in front of our breeze way, there is also more parking around back convenient to our church services. See site map for the layout of our church and parking areas.
When you come into our church, there will be people to greet you and give you a bulletin and show you where to go. We also have an information desk right outside our church sanctuary with friendly people ready to answer any questions you may have.
We offer nursery child care during our 9:30am service. Our nursery attendant has been with us for over 8 years and is great with children. We also have a cry room right off the sanctuary where you can go with your child if needed. We want children to be involved with our services and understand that they will make noise, and we are ok with that, but also offer these services if it makes it easier for you to worship with us.
During the 9:30am service, we have the children stay in church with their family until the children’s message which occurs about 10 minutes into the service. After the children’s message we take the 3 year old to 5th grade children off to a separate area for a special lesson and activity just for them. If you want your child to participate with this you can send them up to the children’s message led by pastor or our youth and family minister and then they can go with us, or you can bring them to the room we use to see where we are at and what we do. If you have any questions contact Tim Richter through the contact page or find him before service. He is happy to answer any questions you may have.
As stewards of God’s gifts to us, part of our service is collecting an offering. If you are a visitor we do not expect you to give money unless you want to. All offerings go to help run the church and help with local mission projects that our church participates in. We give with joyful hearts out of thanks for all that God has given us, not out of obligation.
