Memorials and Funerals
At Zion Lutheran, we know how difficult it is to lose a loved one. You are not alone on this journey, we are here to walk with you. We will work closely with you and your family throughout your planning to honor your loved one’s life on earth as well as their eternal life in Heaven. We believe that the tears we shed over the loss of a loved are mingled with tears of joy, knowing that our Lord promises eternal life to all who have died in the faith.
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep.” (1 Thess. 4:13–14 ESV)
Personalize Your Loved One’s Service
First, you will meet with the Pastor to talk about your loved one and to plan their service. Many families enjoy personalizing certain aspects of the service to reflect who their loved one was, things like selecting:
- Music – incorporating a favorite songs or hymns and including any solos or special instrumental music
- Bible verses – including Bible verses that were cherished by your loved one
- Date — which will take into consideration special events at the church and when family and friends can be here.
You will also receive an information packet about our Memorial Garden and some other instructions that will help you prepare for the service. The packet will also include service fees and information about refreshments or a light meal that could be provided following the service.
